Language is one of the fundamental aspects of a society — without it, there is no way we can communicate clearly with one another, which in itself is a prerequisite to practically everything else that involves interpersonal interactions.

In day-to-day communication, we tend to blend our emotions, reasoning, and background into the way we speak. We choose to speak a certain way as a result of our upbringing, adequately changing it depending on the tone and context of a situation.

In the modern world, language has progressed significantly to the point where complexities can come out of metaphorical and non-direct language. Standards like ASD-STE100 therefore exist in situations where miscommunication is dire, and emphasis is placed on simple, understandable language that is strict on instruction.
